Check out the coolest bikers in Brevard County, Florida setting up for the Toys for Tots Run this morning at the Merritt Square Mall, Merritt Island, Florida. These men and women get together each year to support The United States Marine Corps Reserve, Toys for Tots Program, Brevard Co. Florida. We took some great pictures of the motorcycles and riders (if you see a lot more Sportster's than not, ... I like them)

The fun, creative, inspiring, and often playful natures of these two critters caused the need for relocation to a new area. These guys were digging their way through a community, visiting garages, yards, porches, and homes and wandering well away from their own habitats in the process. Happily they were taken back to their own homes safe and sound.

 The Florida Gopher Turtle is happily munching some grasses here in Brevard County, near Cocoa Beach, along a well manicured pathway through a lovely community in Melbourne, Florida. He was enjoying himself so much, he didn't even mind us taking the video =)

Gopher Turtles are among the endangered species listed in this great country and a joy to watch!

Dragonflies on the Beachwalk

 If you look close at the picture of the vegetation here, you will see a few dragonflies ... there were at least a hundred flying around the walkway today at Canaveral National Seashore, Playalinda Beach, Florida. They are regular visitors to the parking areas here. You will also see a mix of Florida vegetation like Sea Oats, Saw Palmetto, and Sea Grapes.

What a tranquil place =)

Florida Alligator

The Florida Alligator is alive, thriving, and well here in Cocoa Beach. Yes, you can see them along many of the roadsides in Brevard county (and in other parts of Florida as well). They dine on our turtles, waterfowl, wild boars, and basically whatever they can find that isn't running away (so keep your tennis shoes on =). Click for some great facts on the Florida Alligator. The Smallest Catfish

I believe we found a fighter! This little guy pulled and jumped and acted just like it's "big boy" brothers out there. The smallest Catfish with the Biggest fight!

Oh yes, they grow to be much bigger than this little guy ... bigger, slimier, and with a big spike on it's back (so be careful not to get stuck).

Not really LOL, Blue Crabs =) Great fishing on the west side of the road at Playalinda! "Catches of the Day" photos to come ...

Look to the west while driving down the road ...

Directions:

From Interstate 95, take State Road 406 exit at Titusville. After crossing the Indian River, take a right fork onto State Road 402 and continue east to the beach.

From Cocoa Beach, take Highway A1A north to State Road 528 and go west to State Road 3 and follow it north to State Road 402, then turn east (right).

Parking:

Parking is a fee per vehicle, per day, to enter Canaveral National Seashore.

Hours:

Hours for Canaveral National Seashore are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Facilities:

Rest rooms and a visitor center.

Cocoa Beach Turtle Tracks in July

These turtle tracks are across Playalinda Beach (just north of Cocoa Beach in Brevard County). Turtle nests were numerous in the area during the Lobster Mini-season July 28 - 29.
