A 1959 concept emerged as a father explained simple capitalism to his son.  You want 1, buy 3, and sell 2 for a profit. This tale of the need for a surfboard is as iconic as the original Ron Jon Surf Shop in Ship Bottom, Long Island Beach, New Jersey.  

Ron DiMenna and John Spodofora opened the original Ron Jon's in 1961. In 1962, Ron Jon Surf Shop Canaveral Pier had arrived.

Double Rainbows Now the Norm

What's up with Double Rainbows being the rule instead of the exception? Double Rainbows are now the norm. Fascinating! 

A Double Rainbow occurs when sunlight passes through a raindrop, the bended light (refraction) reflects off the back, and bends again, twice in the raindrop. The Double comes from two different reflective angles. The longer red waves are found at the top of the rainbow and the shorter blue waves complete the bottom of the first rainbow. The second or double is reversed, instead of the name Roy. G. Biv, (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet), it gets weird, Vib G. Yor.

MrMBB333, we watch him on YouTube, has commented on many of his videos that Double Rainbows seem to be the norm now. I agree with his recollection of when "we" were young not seeing many doubles. Kids were just outside a lot more often in the day and a double rainbow was not the norm. His Twitter status is full of Double rainbow pictures sent in from viewers. Truck Stops in Brevard County Florida: Pilot Flying J and Truck Stops of America

Just off I-95, exit 202, 1101 Friday Road, Flying J #1096 Cocoa is the 29th Florida location for Flying J Travel Centers. 

Truck stops are few and far between once truckers venture into Florida. The closest full service truck stop from Cocoa is the TA (Truck Stops of America) in Vero Beach on I-95. 

The Vero Beach TA has a full service restaurant, Country Pride open from 6 am to 11 pm, with 24/7/365 roadside and in-bay truck service. The TA has been around a long time and knows what "full-service" means. 

The only full service Pilot Flying J Truck Stop in Florida is 950 SR 206 W, St. Augustine.

While this post may seem "off the grid" of Cocoa Beach Pictures, the "Useful Pot" that is the Flying J Travel Center may be a bear necessity, shower, sleep, eat it and beat it style truck stop, the service it offers to our truck drivers is indeed priceless.

Directions:

From Interstate 95, take State Road 406 exit at Titusville, Florida. After crossing the Indian River, take a right fork onto State Road 402 and continue east to the beach.

From Cocoa Beach, take Highway A1A north to State Road 528 and go west to State Road 3 and follow it north to State Road 402, then turn east (right).

Parking:

Parking is a fee per vehicle, per day, to enter Canaveral National Seashore.

Hours:

Hours for Canaveral National Seashore are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Facilities:

Rest rooms and a visitor center.

A Max Brewer Bridge, Titusville, Florida watching 1KiteSurf.com

We were driving home from a day of Florida East Coast Surf Fishing, along the shore of the A The Max Brewer Bridge which is off the east end of Garden St. in Titusville overlooking the Indian River, and came upon some awesome Kite Surf action! This is an instructor for 1 Kite Surf and handled the Wind Surf gear with precision. It was a 15 minute show we hadn't planned but were happy to see.

With parking locations aplenty, the adventurous have found a prime location to Kite or Wind Surf. Fishing, swimming, Jet-Skis, just fun in the sun days are had by locals and tourists alike. More information on what to do around A Max Brewer Bridge.

A Max Brewer Bridge Titusville, Florida

The A Max Brewer bridge is a $44.8 million dollar concrete construction located at the east end of Garden Street in Titusville, Florida. Going east past the bridge is Canaveral National Seashore, Haulover Canal, Black Point Wildlife Drive, and Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.

Veterans Memorial Fishing Pier
The smaller pier known as the Catwalk or just fishing pier 2 at Veterans Memorial Fishing Pier is closed because of damages done by Hurricane Irma. No date for reopening this pier is set.

The Veterans memorial Fishing Pier stays open during launches, restrooms and all.

What's close by?

For those who forgot their sunscreen, towel, or snacks and lunch, on the west side of A Max Brewer Bridge there are shops and eateries like CVS, 7-Eleven, Burger King, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Save A Lot. 

Parrish Park is usually the locals term when referring to the shoreline around A Max Brewer Bridge. It is complete with boat ramps, ample parking, restrooms, and a boardwalk.


Hobo Island is one of the extremely small islands looking south off the A Max Brewer Bridge. It is said to have a population from 1 to 4 from time to time.

Sand Point Park and Space View Park US Space Walk of Fame are close by and  

Pier 220 has Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night live bands at the Waterside Bar.

Moon Landing 50th Anniversary Parade

Cocoa Beach Parade Celebrates the Apollo 11 Mission. The Parade kicked off the week long events calendar. A Golf Tournament honoring Alan Shepard, Pub Crawl through Cocoa Village, Celebration Dinner with Duran Duran, and many more scheduled.
